Watch Carbon Nation Online Free Movie

Carbon Nation fulfills its goal of explaining and demonstrating some of the methods being used to combat global warming and other environmental challenges. It is not great as a movie, but it is good as a guide. An optimistic (and witty) discovery of what people are already doing, what we as a nation could be doing and what the world needs to do to prevent (or at least slow down) the impending climate crisis. Director Peter Byck’s film Carbon Nation (available in select New York theaters February 11th and Los Angeles theaters February 18th by Clayway Media) ends with a quote from Edmund Burke, “Nobody makes a greater mistake than he who does nothing because he could only do a little,” and bills itself as “a climate change solutions movie (that doesn’t even care if you believe in climate change).” And indeed Carbon Nation gives us many practical solutions for helping the earth, like buying green utilities (washers and dryers and refrigerators and air conditioners, for instance), installing solar panels, not eating meat once a week, buying local food, using a push lawn mower and electing clean energy public servants (among many other tips).

Carbon Nation also focuses on people who have done something to help us change the carbon air layer: Cliff Etheredge, who, in Texas, has the largest wind farm in the world; Bernie Karl, who plans to create 2.5 megawatts of power with no smokestacks; Dan Nolan, who found utility grade battery storage; Daryl Horne and Wayne Gatlin, Jr., who have careers in solar installation and help low-income people get solar panels for their homes; and Peggy Rathman and John Wick, who at the University of California – Berkeley are testing the carbon sequestration capabilities of carbon farms.

Director Peter ByckWe learn in Carbon Nation that it would someday be possible not to have any clean air or water, that glaciers are both receding and disappearing through global warming and thousands and thousands of pine trees are being destroyed by beetles who have longer time periods in which to eat them away with our now shorter winters. Farmers are admonished not to leave their fields fallow but to create carbon rich soil which can help during droughts by developing plow pans that help keep the carbon in the earth, where it is useful, rather than having it released into the air.
